Diplomats Land Pair on All-CC Team
Nov. 2, 2007
LANCASTER, Pa. - Two members of Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team were awarded All-Centennial Conference honors when the team was announced on Friday afternoon. Junior Margot Phelan was named to the First Team, while sophomore, Maritza Fair earned Second Team honors. Phelan, the 2006 Player of the Year and Franklin & Marshall's first volleyball All-American, was named to the First Team for the third time in her career. A member of the Centennial Academic Honor Roll (3.4 Grade Point Average or higher), Phelan led the Centennial in total kills (426), and ranked seventh in hitting percentage (.270), and eighth in kills per game (3.80). Fair was selected for the Second Team for the second time in as many years. The sophomore ranked second in the Centennial in hitting percentage (.317), fourth in total kills (344), and seventh in kills per game (3.82). Franklin & Marshall wrapped up the 2007 season with a 19-10 mark, tying with Dickinson for fifth place in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils advanced to the Centennial Championship Tournament by virtue of a head-to-head, 3-2 win in Carlisle earlier this month. The Diplomats were the first, and one of only two teams to defeat the Conference's top team throughout the regular season Haverford. |
