LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall (13-6) defeated Richard Stockton 3-2 in the first match of the Franklin & Marshall scramble, but dropped their remaining matches to Grove City and Stevens Tech. The Diplomats fell 3-2 to Grove City, and were swept by Stevens Tech 3-0 in the final match of the evening.

Stevens Institute of Technology went 3-0 on the day in winning the scramble. The Ducks did not drop a game on the day sweeping both Moravian and Richard Stockton. Stevens produced the tournament's MVP in Melanie Volk. The Ducks' Dawn Herring was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Diplomats fell behind 2-1 in the opening match with Richard Stockton (30-14, 23-30, 17-30, 31-29, 15-13), but took the final pair of games for the only win of the day. F&M's all-tourney choice, Margot Phelan recorded 25 kills, 14 digs and three assists in the win. Maritza Fair came up with 20 kills and 17 digs, while Nicole Morano posted 14 kills and four blocks.

In the loss to Grove City (26-30, 30-28, 29-31, 30-28, 15-13), Phelan recorded her second double-double of the day with 21 kills and 24 digs. She was one of four players to record double-digits in the kills column. Fair matched Phelan's effort with 21 kills. Morano added 14, while Pam Horner posted a 10-kill, 27 assist, 10-dig triple-double. Krysta Brown led the team with four blocks, while Valerie Pusateri recorded 45 assists.

Stevens Tech quickly dispatched the Diplomats 30-12, 30-20, 30-27. Horner led the team with eight kills, 10 assists, four digs and three blocks.

Franklin & Marshall moved to 13-6 at the day's end. The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday at McDaniel.
