WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall women's track and field team picked up three first place finishes, while the men garnered a pair of firsts this weekend at the West Chester University Invitational. The two-day met was a non-scoring affair comprised of several PSAC schools, and a handful of Division III teams.

Shannon Weir easily won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:32.44), outclassing the field by 34 seconds.

Vanessa Pabon placed third in the long jump with the top finish by a Division III entrant. Pabon leapt 4.63 meters. The event was won by Bloomsburg's Connie Ranieri at 4.91 meters.

For the men, Josh Laster and Pavel Marossine swept the first two spots in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Laster clocked a 10:12.22, while Marossine crossed a little over nine seconds later, in 10:21.78. The F&M duo was well out in front of the field.

Jon Brallier won the pole vault, clearing at 4.43 meters.

Jake Gomolinski-Ekel finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.74, tops amongst DIII competition. West Chester runners took first and third, with a Cheyney runner in between. He also finished fourth in the 400, posting his best time of the year, a 50.23. Zach Barninger was the top Division III entrant in the Decathlon, taking fifth in the competition with 5,268 points.
