Wood Solid on Second Day

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's Erica Wood advanced to the quarterfinals at the Centennial Invitational. She was the only Diplomat to advance beyond her second round match at F&M's Brooks Tennis Center.

Wood defeated Dickinson's Joelle Nitzberg 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 in the second round, before falling to Johns Hopkins' Brittany Mattava 6-2, 6-0. Mattava will face Washington's Allison Daciek in tomorrow's semifinals. Dani Barish fell to Dickinson's Sarah Woodward 6-2, 6-4 in the tournament's second round.

Wood and Dana Russo advanced to tomorrow's consolation semifinals in doubles competition. The duo defeated Myah Blazar and Jacquelyn Magner of Muhlenberg 8-5. F&M's other pair in the consolation quarterfinals, Ally Warshaver and Julia Lange, fell 8-2 to Haverford's Katherine Drooyan and Amanda Zheutlin

The three-day competition concludes on Sunday in Lancaster.
