Catalano Heads To Nationals

March 12, 2008

LANCASTER, Pa. - Junior Alyssa Catalano will represent Franklin & Marshall at the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.

In her first trip to nationals, Catalano will compete in the weight throw on Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m. She is the 12th seed out of 13 competitors with a season-best distance of 16.19m (53-01.5), a mark she hit at Princeton on Feb. 23.

"This is a demonstration of Alyssa's dedication and commitment to the throwing events since she was a freshman," said head coach Carl Schnabel. "She continues to move herself into a position of being one of the top throwers in Division III."

Catalano has won the weight throw at four Invitationals this winter and placed second on two occasions. She was also won the gold medal in the shot put at the Centennial Conference Championships, however, the weight-throw event is currently not contested.
