Diplomats Tune Up For CC's At Princeton Invitational

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Franklin & Marshall men's and women's indoor track & field teams tuned up for the Centennial Conference Championships with one final meet, competing at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.

The women had three second-place finishes on the day, while the men had one in the triple jump thanks to Freddy Martino with a leap of 12.95m. Alyssa Catalano was runner up in the weight throw (16.19m), while Megan Hunter and Rachel Suydam each took second in the 400m and 1000m, respectively.

Hunter ran 59.82 to finish second out of 16 runners in the 400m and also finished eighth in the 200m with a time of 26.89. Suydam and Nicole DiBenedetto (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) were neck-and-neck in the 1000m. Suydam ran 3:16.40 and DiBenedetto came in third, running the race in 3:16.45.

Catalano also finished in the top 10 in the shot put, collecting sixth place with a throw of 11.66m. Erin Gleason competed in both the shot put and weight throw, taking eighth and ninth place with distances of 11.34m and 13.65m, respectively.

In the mile, Shannon Weir grabbed eighth overall with a time of 5:25.30.

On the men's side, Kwaku Anno tallied a distance of 6.94m for third overall in the long jump. Steven Tracy had a good showing in the 200m with fourth place (23.35) and Jake Gomolinski was close behind in seventh with a time of 23.45. Tracy also took 12th in the 55m (6.73) and Gomolinski finished 16th in the 400m (52.22).

Jared Pickell led the Diplomats in the 500m, running 1:15.84 for sixth and the fourth highest finish on the team on the day. Ryan Bell paced the squad in the 800m race with ninth place in a time of 1:59.96.

F&M returns to action next weekend at the conference championships hosted by Ursinus Meet time is 10 a.m.
