Three Named To All-CC Field Hockey Team

LANCASTER, Pa. - Three members of the Franklin & Marshall field hockey team have been named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, announced on Tuesday.

Lindsay Solar was highlighted on the first team, while Jessika Mancino earned second-team honors and Valerie Sauers was selected as an honorable mention.

Solar, senior co-captain and defender, is receiving her first all-conference honor as a unanimous first-team choice. Starting every game, she anchors a defense that has recorded five shutouts this season. Solar also has seven assists, five defensive saves and one goal. She made two defensives saves in each 2-1 win over Elizabethtown and Eastern Mennonite.

Mancino, a junior midfielder, is earning her first All-CC accolades on the second team. She has totaled 15 points on the season with six goals and three assists. Mancino registered her first hat trick in a 5-0 win over York and has netted two game-winning goals.

Sauers, a freshman defender, was an honorable-mention selection and the only newcomer on the All-Conference teams. She has started in all 17 contests, posting one assist and one defensive save this season.

The Diplomats (11-6, 6-4 CC) are making their fifth appearance in the conference playoffs and travel to Gettysburg in a first-round game on Wednesday. Game time is 3 p.m.
