Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. - Pamela Cassidy scored a goal in each half to lead 18th-ranked Franklin & Marshall over Muhlenberg 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.

Cassidy netted the game winner at the 25:46 mark in the first half and then scored her team-leading 12th goal early in the second half to shut out the Mules (11-5, 6-2 CC) for the fifth time and help keep the Diplomats' (10-5, 6-3 CC) hopes alive for a spot in the conference playoffs.

Jennifer Burdo picked up her fourth shut-out victory, making three saves for F&M.

On the first goal, Valerie Sauers' hard pass ricocheted off of Samantha Bentley's stick directly to Cassidy for the one-touch shot into the corner of the cage.

Sauers got the assist on the second goal with a pass from the top of the circle and Cassidy was in the left corner of the goal to finish it for a 2-0 lead.

The Diplomats held the Muhlenberg to just one shot in the first half. Burdo and Tracie Hiatt added a save and a defensive save, respectively, in the second half off Muhlenberg penalty corners.

F&M returns to action on Tuesday against York, beginning at 7 p.m.
