Oct. 13, 2007

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. - Pamela Cassidy recorded five points, scoring two goals and dishing out an assist to lead No. 18 Diplomats over Haverford 6-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.

The Diplomats (9-4, 5-2 CC) registered six unanswered goals, scoring three goals in each half to collect their fourth shutout and post their 10th straight win over the Fords (5-9, 1-5 CC).

Cassidy started the scoring in the 12th minute, gathering a shot that hit the post and then finishing the ball in a wide-open cage for a 1-0 lead. Lauren Wendth made it 2-0 after she knocked in her second goal of the season at the 27:37 mark.

F&M ended the half on a penalty corner with time expired and Millicent Scott scored off passes from Cassidy and Lindsay Solar.

Just like the first half, Cassidy opened the second stanza with her 10th goal of the year in the 38th minute, before Eileen O'Reilly carried the ball from half field and buried her breakaway past Maggie Cronin for a 5-0 lead.

Mollie Ruben netted the final goal thanks to an assist by Anne Christensen off a penalty corner at the 61:45 mark.

Jennifer Burdo preserved the shutout, stopping Lauren Kemph's breakaway attempt just five minutes into the second half. Burdo ended with two saves.

The Diplomats returns to action on Tuesday at Dickinson. Game time is 1 p.m.
