Cross Country Competes At Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa - Emily Wilson placed 32nd out of 239 runners to help Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team finish 13th at the 34th annual Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Friday. Wilson ran 23:53 in the 6K race, to come in first on the squad for the fourth straight meet. SUNY Cortland took first as a team with score of 158 to edge Grove City by a nine points. The Wolverines showcased the top runner with Kristen Carter, who crossed the finish line in 21:47. The Diplomat men ran to a 25th-place finish out of 33 teams, led by senior Harrison Miller. Miller clocked in with a time of 27:01 for 37th out of 270 participants. Centennial Conference opponent Dickinson captured the invitational title with 119 points. Bloomsburg and Johns Hopkins each totaled 148 points, but came in second and third, respectively. F&M's Nicole DiBenedetto finished the course in 24:41 for 69th place and second on the team while Jenna Bush ran 1:36 faster than last week, posting a time of 25:00 for third on the team and 91st overall. Maggie Selzer ran seven seconds faster than Emily Kornfield and Kelly Farrelly. Selzer finished with a time of 25:13, and Kornfield and Farrelly completed the race in 25:20. The final four finishers for the Diplomats coupled up and did not run far apart from each other. Freshmen Ryan Bell and Erik Olsen ran 28:19 and 28:22 to finish second and third on the team, respectively. Josh Laster ran 29:06 and Ryan Birnbaum was two seconds behind with 29:08 for the 8K meet. F&M returns to action on Oct. 6 at the Dickinson Invitational. |
