Herbert Climbs Two Spots

Jan. 16, 2008

LANCASTER, Pa. - Justin Herbert, Franklin & Marshall's 174-pound wrestler, was ranked 18th in the nation in the latest InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Poll when it was released Wednesday afternoon. The junior climbed two spots from the 20th position he had occupied for the last two releases.

Herbert is 17-1 this season having taken each of his 13 bouts since dropping a 6-3 decision to Matt Stolpinski of Navy. Stolpinski was ranked eighth in the latest poll with a 27-6 record.

Herbert racked up his11th pin of the year in last week's loss at American, tying the school mark for pins in a season, now shared by Brendan James `98. James posted 11 falls during his senior campaign (1997-98), in which he finished with a 36-8 record. Herbert needs a single pin to claim ownership of the record. Five of Herbert's pins this season have come in the opening minute of his bout.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday for an EIWA tri-meet with Brown and Rutgers. The matches will be wrestled at Rutgers.
