LANCASTER, Pa. - Justin Herbert became Franklin & Marshall's first place winner since 2005, taking sixth place in the 174-pound weight class at the 104th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championship Tournament. His Diplomats earned the tournament's Sportsmanship Award, selected by the event's officials, for the second consecutive season.

Herbert opened the day with a 14-6 win over East Stroudsburg University's Shane Mallory, guaranteeing F&M a spot on the podium for the first time since Mike Parziale placed fifth at 157-pounds at the 101st championship.

Scott Giffin of Pennsylvania handed Herbert his second loss of the championship. Giffin led 3-2 late in the first when Herbert missed on a headlock throw. Giffin's counter resulted in a violent takedown that yielded three back points and put the Quaker ahead for good.

Herbert's hopes for nationals came to a halt against Shane Riccio of Bucknell. Riccio had bumped Herbert from the main draw via 8-4 decision on Saturday, and took the fifth place match via 7-2 decision this afternoon.

Herbert wraps his junior campaign with a record of 27-5. He also had 17 pins, 14 coming in the first period.

Jake Bucha was ousted from the tournament in his first match of the day, falling 4-2 to Columbia's Brandon Kinney. The sophomore ended his season with a record of 18-11.

Bucha and Herbert carried F&M to 13 team points, leaving the hosting Diplomats in 13th place amongst the 14 competing teams. Princeton trailed F&M with 10.5 team
