Diplomats Defeated at Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton took the first nine bouts en route to a 41-4 win over Franklin & Marshall Saturday night. The Bearcats (11-11) utilized three pins and a pair of major decisions in the win over the Diplomats (5-8). One of the majors came when Josh Patterson upset No. 18 Justin Herbert with a 10-2 win at 174-pounds. Patterson (12-2) snapped Herbert's (22-2) winning streak at 19 bouts. No. 19 Kyle Fried was responsible for the Bearcats other major, a 9-1 decision at 149, coming at the expense of Al Gianforti. Binghamton picked up pins at 125, 141, and 157. Nico Somers (10-11) staved off the shutout with a 10-1 decision at heavyweight, knocking off Dan Bittner. The loss was F&M's second in as many seasons at the hands of Binghamton. The Diplomats still maintain a 3-2 edge in the series. F&M returns to action on Friday against Gettysburg. Binghamton 41, Franklin & Marshall 4
