Wrestlers Fall To East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - East Stroudsburg won six out of the 10 bouts, including two by fall, to defeat Franklin & Marshall 26-14 in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) action on Sunday. Dave Williams and Sean Carr each recorded a pin at the 197 and 141 weight classes, respectively, to help the Warriors collect their second EIWA win and stop the Diplomats short of their first conference victory. Jake Bucha (E. Norriton, PA/Norristown) and Al Gianforti (Canandaigua, NY/Irondequoit) won their bouts by major decision for F&M. Bucha earned the victory over Matthew Benedetti at 125 by a 17-4 score, while Gianforti posted a 17-7 win against Jesse Dunn at 149. At 174, 18th-ranked Justin Herbert (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) tallied his 20th win of the season with an 8-4 decision over Shane Mallory. The fourth Diplomats victory on the mat was by Nico Somers (Green Village, NJ/Madison) at heavyweight. Somers defeated Chris Birchler, 3-2. East Stroudsburg recorded major-decision wins at 133 and 184, while getting an 11-5 decision from Kyle Heselpoth at 157 and escaping with a 2-1 decision at 165. F&M returns to action on Saturday in a tri-match at home with Wilkes, Princeton and Wagner, beginning at 12 p.m. ESU 26, Franklin & Marshall 14 125 - Jake Bucha (FM) maj. dec.
