Diplomats Compete At Osprey Open

POMONA, NJ - Megan Hunter and Alyssa Catalano won the 800m and hammer throw, respectively, to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team at the Osprey Open at Richard Stockton on Saturday.

Hunter tallied a time of 2:18.16 for first place, while Catalano hit the 150-01 mark for just one out of three top 10 finishes on the afternoon. She also took second in the shot put with a throw of 38-09.75 and eighth in the discus (99-06).

On the men's side, Ryan Bell led the Diplomats with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500m race with a time of 4:09.53. Also competing in a long-distance event, Pavel Marossine took fifth in the 5,000m (15:51.17).

Shannon Weir and Emily Wilson each took fourth in their respective events. Weir came in fourth being Hunter in the 800m (2:26) and then ran 17th in the 400m with a time of 1:04.44. Wilson was the top runner for F&M in the 3000m steeplechase, taking fourth in 12:44.26.

Freshman Emily Kornfeld clocked in at 21:10.62 in the 5000m race for sixth overall and Rachel Suydam was 10th in the 1,500m, posting a time of 5:16.22.

In addition to Catalano, Erin Gleason competed in three field events and was among the top 10 in each. In the javelin, she hit the distance of 96-09 for third and then threw the discus 104-08 for sixth. Gleason also came in fifth in the shot put (37-03).

The Diplomats got sixth-place finishes from Kwaku Anno, Steven Tracy and the 4x100 relay team for the men. Anno leaped 43-07 in the triple jump and Tracy ran 11.40 in the 100m. Jake Gomolinski came in second on the team and 10th overall in the 100m with a time of 11.57.

Anno led F&M in the 200m, running 22.78 to finish 10th out of 72 runners.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at the West Chester Invitational. Meet time is 10 a.m.
