LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's men's swim team swept the day's first seven events to roll to a 101-68 win over Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) swimming action on Saturday. Six different Diplomats (4-4, 3-0 CC) accounted for the six individual wins in the run. The Bears (2-8, 0-5 CC) took the final four events without contest.

Matt Young, Tom Grabiak, Val Perfanov, and Phil Rehders delivered the day's first win in the 200-meldey relay. The foursome posted a 1:40.37. Young, Perfanov, and Rehders each went on to pick up an individual win, while Peter Fishler and John Kelly of the second place 200-medley relay squad also accounted for wins in the opening stretch.

Derek Nowak took the 1,650-yard freestyle in convincing fashion, logging a 16:39.06. He had almost a minute on Ursinus' Lloyd Tannenbaum. Young won a tightly contested 100-yard backstroke squeezing in .79 seconds ahead of the Bears' Ryan Kennedy at 56.97.

Rehders won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.91, making him the only swimmer to come in under 50 seconds. Kelly, who won the 50-yard free in 23.6 seconds, took second in the 100 with a mark of 51:05.

Fishler swam to a 1:49.86 in the 200-yard free giving him nearly three seconds on the field, while Perfanov posted a 54.32 win in the 100-yard butterfly. Teammate J.T. Cavey grabbed second (54.96), followed by Fishler (56.58) for the clean sweep.

The Diplomats improved to 4-4 (3-0 CC) with the win. F&M returns to action Friday evening at McDaniel.
