Madraswala Splits Day One at CSA Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Sadiq Madraswala and Shane Slater each faced a Yale and Bowdoin opponent during Friday's first round of the CSA Individual Championships. The CSA Championships are being played out this weekend at the United States Naval Academy.

Madraswala defeated Bowdoin's Andrew Bernard in the round of 64 in the Malloy Cup draw. Madraswala swept Bernard 9-1, 9-3, 9-4, before falling in three to Yale's Moshe Sarfaty 9-1, 9-1, 9-5.

Slater fell in three games to Yale's Todd Ruth in the Malloy Cup round of 64. Ruth worked a 9-2, 9-4, 9-1 win. Bowdoin's Jacob Sack downed Slater in five in the consolation round of 32, 10-9, 6-9, 2-9, 9-4, 9-2.

Madraswala returns to action Saturday morning at 10:45 am. His opponent in the consolation bracket is yet to be determined.
