Men's Soccer Receives NSCAA Ethics Award

Jan. 22, 2008

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team received the 2007 NSCAA College Team Ethics Award, which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards accumulated throughout the season.

The Diplomats received the Silver Award, given to teams that do not accumulate any red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. F&M was the only men's squad out of the 59 teams in all divisions to receive the ethics award. The Diplomats tallied three yellow cards for the 2007 season, none of which were given to a starter.

"They say that athletics does not develop character, it exposes character," said head coach Dan Wagner. "This year our players battled under the weight of tremendous stress and this is one of the many accomplishments to credit to this group of young men."
