Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. - Ian Forster factored in on both Gettysburg goals as the Bullets ended top-seeded Franklin & Marshall's hopes of winning its first Centennial Conference championship with a 2-1 win at F&M's North Campus Athletic Field on Saturday.

Gettysburg's (12-6-1) Chris Bayon scored his 12th goal of the season early in the 95th minute. Bayon headed the golden goal home off of a cross from Forster, whose goal in the 16th minute knotted the game at 1-1.

Franklin & Marshall's (15-3) Ryan McGonigle started the day's scoring 5:03 into the contest, intercepting a pass from the Gettysburg keeper, Matt Langston. His quick redirect gave McGonigle his 14th of the season, and F&M a fleeting lead.

Langston finished the game with a pair of saves. Diplomats' keeper Zack Zamek turned aside six Bullet advances. Five of his saves came in the second half. Gettysburg held a 13-9 advantage in shots, while the Diplomats held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

The match was the fourth to go into overtime out of the last seven played between the teams. The first of those seven came in the 2002 Centennial semifinals in Baltimore. The teams played to a 1-1 tie with F&M advancing on penalty kicks.

Gettysburg advances to championship Sunday with the win, and will face the winner of the Johns Hopkins / Muhlenberg semifinal. The Diplomats will await the word from the NCAA, which selects its championship field on Monday.
