Sept. 7, 2007

Box Score

The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 win over Hampden-Sydney at the Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown College on Friday night.

Ryan McGonigle (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) tallied three points with two goals and one assist, while Brandon Corday (Morton Grove, IL/Niles Township) also scored and Matthew Krantz (Bryn Mawr, PA/Harriton) recorded his first collegiate goal to help the Diplomats (3-0) post their third straight win to start the season.

Corday gave F&M a 1-0 lead after finishing a through ball played by McGonigle just 10:10 into the game. McGonigle then made it 2-0 when he finished a loose ball that hit the crossbar in the 17th minute.

Krantz found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career, putting his shot past Ben Marchetti to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.

McGonigle would strike again in the 51st minute for F&M's final goal, while the defense only allowed eight shots and held the Tigers (1-2) scoreless for its third consecutive shutout.

The Diplomats return to action tomorrow against St. Vincent. Game time is 5 p.m.
